Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 All exhibitors and contractors in the halls during build-up and dismantling must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Double Deck Power

If you are building a Double Deck Stand and require electricity on the upper level please contact Servifira in order to make sure that the cables reach up to the required location.

UPS Availability

A limited number of UPS’s (Uninterruptible Power Supply) are available from Servifira to protect your equipment in the event of a temporary power cut, please contact Servifira for more information and prices.

24h Power Setup

Orders of additional power will be installed with a separate switchboard. Hence, if you need a 24-hour power supply you will have two different switchboards. Each switchboard will be clearly labelled to distinguish between daytime and 24h supplies.

Board Location Required

It is compulsory for any additional switchboards ordered to show a location in the online plan provided during the ordering process.

Safety helmets (hard hats) and high visibility vests (high-vis vests) are required in order to gain entry to the venue during build-up and dismantling, except for the Sunday before the event starts. Safety helmets and high visibility vests must always be worn by all personnel.

Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate PPE is always worn by all personnel working for or on behalf of the exhibitor. Exhibitors must ensure that all personnel working for or on behalf of the exhibitor, always cooperate with the Organisers and the Organiser’s appointed safety staff regarding health and safety.

  • Safety helmets must be in accordance with UNE-EN 397. A chin strap is required when working at height
  • High visibility vests must be in accordance with UNE 471. High visibility vests must be ‘day glow’, dark colours are not permitted

High Visibility Vests

  • Colours: non dark background colour
  • Colour to be 50% of surface area
  • Minimum 0.1sqm if refective strips (a band or a group of bands)
  • Reflective strips minimum 5cm wide
  • The below vests are not approved

Other PPE:

  • Safety boots – preferably steel toe cap boots: when handling loads
  • Gloves: when handling loads
  • Safety goggles: in activities involving cutting and that otherwise pose a projection hazard
  • Safety harness: in any task done at a height of more than 2 meters that entails a risk of falling
  • Any other protective equipment stipulated in the activity's own risk assessment

This is not an exhaustive list of items. It is the Exhibitors duty of care to assess that the correct type of PPE is applied to a work situation during build up, show days and dismantling.

Flat shoes, pumps, heels of any kind (including trainer heels), wedges and open toed shoes such as sandals and flip-flops – are NOT permitted during build up and dismantling

Religious Exemptions

Spain does not provide a religious exemption to the UNE-EN 397 safety helmet regulation. An individual may choose to wear a patka under the standard safety helmet. The Organisers will permit turban/dastaar-wearing Sikhs to enter the venue during build-up and dismantling without the standard safety helmet only if:

  • 1. The organisation requesting the individual’s entry provides their identification information so on-site staff may identify them
  • 2. The individual’s employer* notifies the Organisers at least seven (7) days prior to build-up, in writing, that the employer has permitted this particular employee a religious accommodation, including information on the way in which the proposed accommodation meets the requirements of UNE-EN 397
  • 3. The employee brings an alternative head covering which meets the requirements of UNE-EN 397, as pre-approved by the Organisers in its sole discretion, to wear onsite

*Only the individual’s employer may permit the accommodation or request it from the Organisers.
